Lameck Mwalimu is a Congolese rapper born in 1997, in Bunia and based in Goma. He is a founding member of the group LS97Lifesong, created in 2012. After several achievements with his group, he decided to launch his solo career in 2022, marking a new chapter in his artistic journey. After more than nine months of studio preparation, he worked on his EP before releasing his first solo single in 2023, titled “1212” — a song in which he talks about his arrival in rap, his journey, and the reality of street life. Lameck Mwalimu’s goal is to change the face of Congolese rap and bring the image of his city’s music, Goma, to national and international levels. Coming from the ghetto and a modest background, he turns the realities of his environment into art. His songs sincerely portray what happens in the streets, giving a voice to those who are rarely heard. For him, music is not just entertainment — it’s a whole way of life, a means to awaken minds and bring positive change to his community and beyond. Lameck Mwalimu draws his inspiration from everyday life and his surroundings.
